The finger numbering is very straightforward and made for beginner adults. For my background: I am a 22 year who used to play when I was very young, didn't touch a piano for about 12 years, and then started up again about 2 months ago. I found this book to be exceedingly helpful, it is a bit more explanatory than other sheet music books. It is made to slowly acclimate you to Reading sheet music, understanding what each symbol means, as it won't be explicitly stated in most composition pieces. All of the pieces also correspond to the AlFred handbook for beginner piano players, which I am using to help myself learn. I find it very helpful that selections are already set aside for reinforcing skills taught in the course textbook; that are already made for the skill level of the learner.I would recommend this book for ages 10+ who are beginning their piano journey and want to learn how to play a few fun pieces and boost their paino confidence. I would also like to note that I bought this used and it was in just fine condition, so especially if you plant to write in the notes in the sheets as practice (I like to do that) then consider buying a used book for a fraction of the cost and to reuse perfectly good materials.

This has some good songs, but it is introduced too early. Once you get to page 54 in the All-In -One course, you are told that you are ready to begin playing songs from their Greatest Hits book. That is not true. Up to that point you have only practiced in C position and G position. There have also not been any hand movements in the All-In-One course. Then, you open to the first song in Greatest Hits, thinking it will be in one of the positions you have been studying, and find a world of confusion. One hand is in C position, and the other is in D position? and you have to keep changing positions and sometimes the hands overlap. I ended up looking at a video on YouTube and realized I was nowhere near ready for the songs in this book. It was a bit of a let down since I had been looking forward to making it to page 54 in the All-In -One course just to be able to begin playing songs from the Greatest Hits book. It kind of took the wind out of my sails to realize they had set me up for failure and given me false hope. I'll save this book for later.Their Sacred Piano book is accurately paced. When it says you are ready to play a song, you have actually already learned everything you need to know to play that song. Not the case with the Greatest Hits book.

This book is part of my lesson plan, so that's why I picked it. I have not progressed very far yet, but I do know that at least some of the songs are incomplete. They are like samples of the complete version. It's a learning tool, not a pure play book.

I absolutely LOVE the song choice in this book, however t is not exactly your typical level 1 beginners book. My dad loves the song choice but he is just learning so it is for a later day when he is a bit more advanced

This is a very poor supplement to the Alfred’s adult series. The all in one level one introduces this books far too early, and the songs do not suggest hand positions, which would help some beginners.

I love this book. It really helps you practice and learn real music while you are still a beginner player. The arrangements are professional, and sound wonderful, even to sing to. They really put a lot of thought into their products.

I received a digital piano for Christmas and although I used to be pretty good at playing, it had been 15 years since I have touched the keys. It was like starting over again. I have bought several of the Alfred Basic books. I was ready to branch out to some fun music, but still needed to keep it fairly easy. The Alfred’s Greatest Hits was just what I was looking for. The songs are easy to play, but don’t sound so childish. I will continue to order more of these books as I progress. I also enjoy the notifications from Amazon on music books I might be interested in.

I've been teaching for years and I like this method.
